I can find tons of full albums on ed2k.
the speeds aren't great, but the the quality makes up for it.

imo soulseek is just like kazaa lite except without the fakes, slow speeds from individual users. I'd pick mIRC and Bittorrent for getting music albums.Originally Posted by callum
SoulSeek has better Quantity and Quality over torrents, there's no doubt about it.
But like eMule, it requires time to get the stuff.
Not really leech-friendly (like suprnova) imo.
SS is really about music, cant beat the torrents with
movies or games at all. I'd say they're 2 rather different beasts.
But if I was to build up my "collection" of albums with Torrents,
it would be impossible, the albums are just not there.
I think eMule has lotsa albums as rar-packs, but sometimes its
hard to get the bitrates for the files before downloading.
But its good source also.
IRC is a place where a lot of new stuff pops up, like torrents, or news,
I've heard even DC++ has some users with huge collection
of music, and WinMX, and other apps I cant think of right now...
Smart dudes and dudettes wont rely on 1 p2p app.
But for music, I'd search the Torrent sites in the end,
especially if its older/rare type of album/release, chances are huge that I'd find
a good release/quality/full album on other p2p than torrents first.
Of cource, albums like the latest Eminem rns-release and similar can
be found on the torrents really fast, but thats mostly because it is
more of a main-stream music, ie. popular music,
then it boils down to the music-taste, if thats enough for a user,
so be it, then torrents are good.
But for me, torrents are pretty much the last source to check.
To BS SoulSeek as a source for music is ignorant imo.
Guys just dont know what they're on about.
Well, each on their own.

Soulseek has much wider range available
Well, you nailed it in few words. I was doing the bible-approach...Originally Posted by DanB

Maybe so...ain't got days to wait in line to download the album.Originally Posted by callum

As long as i get the album.

Having privileges and being on lots of peoples userlists solves that problem. I can easily queue up several albums and download at my maximum speed straight away and until most of the albums are complete.Originally Posted by UcanRock2
2 days per album as the deafult speed is not how I got my stuff.
In the few monhts I was basically using it more, the worst was one
album I had to wait over a week to get, as ppl with priviledges cut before me,
and the other dude had somewhat slow UL speeds.
Other than that, stuff gets down decently.
There's one other factor to think about too.
Concerning speeds and whatnot.
Say, I queu up 10 albums from several users, my DL speeds is
definately maxed up, BUT...
I'll be off to do something else, work, whatever.
I get back to PC like about 12 hours later and all the Albums are downed.
First, I'd queu more albums, then start organizing.
I kid you not but with my 1MB connection and SoulSeek,
I actually piled up lotsa Albums I dint have time to "check".
I mean, to Listen and check the Tags and Filenames, organizing, etc.
Sometimes I thougth it was good that I didnt DL much faster.
I had the incoming folder full of unchecked albums...
And, I was using SoulSeek like 99% of the music-downloads.
SS is not as "fast" as torrents, but I certainly got my stomach full many times.
