Most people over the age of 25 and under 40 are
I used to have a lad work for me who could'nt read either, I'd ask him what something measured and he ould answer "42 and a half inches and 3 mm

btw, I realise the potential for euphawhatsits so don't bother Manky
And if anyone quotes the "I used to have a lad" I'll slap them

    Oops, sorry.

I'm afraid you'll have to make sense before I can understand you.

Machine threas are those lil twisty like patterns on round metal things called bolts, they go together with little various shaped things called nuts witch have the female version of the thread on the bolt.
These are used for securing things together, you may find many on your motor vehicle or bycicle

I did have prior knowledge of that concept of threads..

Though I thought you were referring to a thread about machines. My mistake.

I guess you "pwned" me Junno. You were talking about nuts and bolts and there's me thinking you meant posts on a forum.

Paint me pwned, I did not think I'd be caught out so easy.

I tease. I have no real clue to the original post. Though I do like my interpretation.

    Wouldn't it be machined threads.

Given that machines don't have threads because they are not bolts.

But I was replying to you after you said you were fully numerically knowledgable in metric and imperial

Therefore my answer was in that context as threads are measured in the same way

    Jonno

Edit@ Manky.....No, they are called Machine Threads , Machined is what has been done to them, but the term is "Machine Thread"

No Jonno, it appeared - to me too - that you were talking of machine threads, threads about machines, since this is a message board.

The proper terminology is machined threads.
