    That's about the truth...

Tried to get a few songs for my Mother to play in her new cars CD player, what a joke .

13 out of 20 were fakes.

Yep. I cant remember... it might have been a CNET report. But anyways... the report said the bittorrent was using more then 1/3 of the internet's bandwith.

im actually ganna have to agree with you on this...

i recently had to redownload photoshop 7, formatted hdd, so i tried emule and was queued for 2 1/2 hours before i finally got a open download slot...at 2.1Kb/s

so i tried BT, got descent speeds, but as soon as i had enough to seed the download was shot. came back about an hour later and i had uploaded 12MB and downloaded 3MB

with k-lite, however, i had the complete file in about 10 hours

but for the newer files, i usually end up using emule or BT

    im on a 56k btw

I still think that Kazaa Lite K++ is good (ok, not as good as it was before the RIAA and Sharman Networks came after it). Is there an overload of fake mp3's on FastTrack? Yes. Are there still a lot of viruses on FastTrack? Yes. Does that mean that Kazaa Lite is automatically garbage now? No. There are still people that share legit and virus-free files on FastTrack. For example, if your favourite sports team isn't performing very well for a particular season, do you automatically say "Well they suck and that's just it"? My point is that you would probably stick with them through their difficult times (like you would a family member or close friend). Kazaa Lite has admittedly suffered some huge blows at the hands of the RIAA and Sharman Networks (but mainly the RIAA). Certain people chose to not just say "Oh well Kazaa Lite is garbage now". The program is still alive and nsane has been doing well at keeping Kazaa Lite K++ alive. I'm not saying that Kazaa Lite is the best, I'm saying that I still think it's good. I also like Ares (has the potential to be the next Kazaa Lite if Kazaa Lite doesn't last) and WinMX (good but really needs more users).

That's my input for this topic

LOL thats why BT sucked for u it was not ment for 56k users! Upgrade to dsl or cable then try BT it blows kazaa out of the water... plus 99% of the files are real with BT and with kazaa 75% are fake!

Anyone who puts their faith in a single p2p application is depriving themselves of potential sources for files.

The best approach is to use a combination of applications, sometimes you'll get better results with FastTrack, sometimes with ED2K, sometimes Gnutella or G2, and sometimes BitTorrent.

The best way to get what you want is to allow yourself to make choices. I would never "specialise" in a single p2p app anymore, use 'em all while you can!!

I agree on this one. Diversity is the Key.

Some files I want to find can be found in suprising places.

The one other factor what kids these days seems to ignore is,
be nice to fellow p2p users.

With a little "nice attitude" over an app, like SS, on IRC, or even in forums
    can yield amazing results.

Say, I was into "insert artist here" music, and I wanted to find more material about it,
I find a fellow user who has few albums, but what with the little nice-attitude
chatting suddenly the other user reveals he has the complete discography,
but not "in shares" for some reason (maybe its burned to CD's as backup or something)
Now, with a little more chatting, that user is willing to share what he/she has.

Imagine the start of the Convo if go:
OMG u idiot have u teh "artists here" albums? I n33d to DL them...

Just a little common cortesy on the forums - p2p apps etc.
and great things are just waiting to happen.

I'd agree K++ is a great piece of software. It was developed on this forum (with Random Nut doing most of the coding and Paul making the installers) with alot of input from the members here. Sadly it does seem to have dropped off a bit of late (the original developers decided not to continue making it and then Sharman who own Kazaa decided it was a big threat to their enterprise and so shut it down).

Perhaps people who are getting viruses from the FT network don't know how to use K++ but I certainly get very few and whilst I don't use K++ that much anymore I'm not in a hurry to remove it from my P.C

sux bein a leech dont it

    ok, time for some FACTS....

#1- newsgroups are consistantly the FASTEST sources for dling,
you get SERVER SPEED, it doesnt rely on what peers are allowing
(plus the files are legit 99.99999999999999% of the time)
so its great for leeches like nsane and jimmy

#2- a well populated torrent will blow k++ away....near server speeds
(and the files are legit 99.9999999999999% of the time)
but it dont go well for leeches like nsane and jimmy, cuz you have to upload

#3- soulseek, even though its a 1 to 1 peer connection,
most have dsl or cable, and the files are legit 110% of the time,
high bitrates, full albums, etc. etc.

#4- never had a virus from news, BT, or slsk, NEVER
back in the days ok k++.....hmm.....lemme see.....
    tooo damn many to count

#5- some one said crack kills brain cells....thats good advice
I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave.
I will work to elevate you just enough to bring you down.
