Nah, didn't help.
XPlite may help.

You can work around it, but why should you?
Stop working, you make me sweat
Learn to stay away from window media files and eventually
these problems becomes less of a problem.
You could just try re-installing WMP9.
That might make it work.
But to completely UnInstall WMP9, its a bit silly imo,
it is thightly integrated to Windows itself, you get more grief
than relief in a longer run.
Basically, its shite, leave it be, use other/better software.
Other ppl does that, resistance is futile, join us now.
Spoiler: Show
I tried xp lite, but it didn't seem to help.
Also, I even tried having a friend send me his Windows Media Player folder in "program files" because I know I'm missing at least one .dll file (setupx.dll)
use XPLite to uninstall everything related to media player then continue uninstalling. Then restart and run xplite again and reinstall media player. it will eed your XP cd. it then installs windows media player 8.Originally Posted by david622
you cna then download version 9 or 10.
I uninstalled SP2, and now it works fine....
Apparently, like I think I've said before, SP2 has a different way of dealing with the liscences of media files, so it could affect some users.
Stupid how an update could effect its own company's software.
Yet another reply:
Alas, it worked until i updated to WMP 10. I downgraded to WMP 9 (via system restore), but it continued not working. Screw it, I'm gonna reinstall SP 2 and hope for updates on WMP that'll make it work.
did u try uninstalling all wmp like i said above.
