    Unstoppable P2P
    Senate explores internet piracy
A state Senate committee exploring piracy has been warned this week by analysts that the file trading phenomenon has become larger than the record industry itself, and that it is now "fundamentally unstoppable", and only getting bigger. "We see only one trend," reported analyst Eric Garland. "More people are downloading more copyrighted material." While Garland recommended the industry embrace digital distribution and avoid PR relations nightmare style lawsuits, the industry itself argued that education was the answer, including a new anti-file-sharing movie clip that will appear soon in movie theaters. Meanwhile new stats indicate that 42% of p2p searches are for porn, and 38% are for audio files.

Extract From: DSL Reports Page. Got a kick out of the anti-file-sharing movie clip the MPAA intends to throw at us. That'll be funny. Too bad we all dl movies instead of go to them.

No, but I am sure it will become a comedy on the fastrack shortly. Give it some time.

Thanks for the warning about the anti-sharing film clip. I may have choked on my $7.00 popcorn and spilled my $5.00 Coke had I not been prepared. I can imagine that at most screenings that clip will elicit more laughter than the feature film...

Right on clocker. I was laughing my ass off when they had the commercial with Brittney and DMX and DMX goes "It's straight up stealing".

I just saw a Gateway ad in which the big sell point was how easy it is to dl mp3s and burn them to cd. If the industry can't muzzle one (fairly) large corporation, how can they expect to stop millions (and growing) of little users? Looking at Download.com it appears that Kazaa is by far the most popular program that they purvey. I think the kitty is out of the bag...
