Serious Dilema

I just don't know what to do, please advise me

Ok so last night I left my mini generator in the kitchen after having been working on it (electrics are fecked) , I wake up this morning and the downstairs stinks of petrol, it would appear there's a small hole in the tank so overnight 1.5 ltrs of petrol soaked into the kitchen carpet

What should I do?

Just wait for it to evapourate?

Throw the carpet outside?

or Set light to it?
