I had several issues of cpu slowing itself down because of heat (Pentium 4 2,4 GHZ suddenly turning into a 884 MHz!).
I've opened my laptop and cleaned the fans and heatsink. There is a slight improvement in heat, but I fear it is not sufficient to insure a good (and durable) functionning of my laptop.

I've been looking around the interweb for solution when I stumbled upon this.
So my question is are those external cooler any good, and if they are which one should I buy?

laptops are designed to slow the proccesor down to save power and produce less heat, it automatically changes the speed to suit the current use.

    yes
but if you are in a cold room into wont heat up
    inother words
yes external cooling systems such as putting your vacuum cleaner on your laptop will help
wrap your laptop in ice and itll handle more

    obviously

er... I know this is normal. I thought that the fan were stuffed up with dust...
As I stated there's some improvement but it's still getting to hot too fast.

So the question was about external coolers (like the one I linked to). Are they any good?

I have considered something like that
but i find it rediculous and it makes me more pissed off at my Laptop seller company
for getting one which over heats
    i hate it.
I ternd to simply put the laptop on a book so the hot area isnt close to anything
    or
    keep the card section open

im sure its pretty simple to make one of those fan table things (that ones is cheep)
(weird thing is that the fans are in the middle whereas the y should be at the top)

My brother tried that very cooler on his Dell notebook and it didn't make a whit of difference.

Just another in a long list of reasons that I hate laptops.
