Most newer models can burn dual layer now. It's not a necessity because the dual layer blank media is still very expensive compared to the single layer media.
Dual layer can store up to 8.5 GB.
Single layer, 4.7 GB.
There is also some good compression software that will let you fit a full movie DVD onto the 4.7 media.

pioneer 108 or nec 3500 or a LiteOn SOHW-1653S if you like messin with fw liteon is well supported...
