    I have two video cards:

    NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128MB

    and

    ATI Radeon 9600 128MB

I use the NVIDIA and my kids use the ATI Radeon. I want the best one on my PC. I like to have a video card that works good in video games, 3D AUTOCAD programming, and VIDEO editing.

    --------
Also, there is a "SKIN" contest on ATI and i probably need to install the ATI Radeon on my PC to test it out.

Weird, however those are the only 2 cards I have at hand right now.

They both seem to be fairly good video cards, and I haven't compared (or bench tested) them, side- by-side with any heavy duty software yet.

For general purpose, they are fine, but I do plan on using one for Unreal Tournament.

    Thanks everyone!

I spent $50.00 for the ATI Radeon 9600 Is that a good price?

OK, I have tried the ATI Radeon 9600 (128MB), I don't like it.

To begin with, it needs too many drivers, control panels, etc. I press Ctrl+Alt+Del and now see a few extra programs running in the background. Half of them don't even need to be running at all, from what I researched on the internet.

Secondly, when playing Unreal Tournament, I get weird graphics. I had this exact same problem with an older model of the ATI video card. Also, the 3D rendering seems to affect my mouse-movement.

I am not comfortable with this ATI card.

Maybe, Unreal Tournament (UT) has been designed around NVIDIA's chipset, being that I think I have seen the logo within UT software.

I played a few DVD movies and see no difference there.

Basic Performance: I see no difference with the ATI Radeon 9600 and the GeForce FX 5200

I like the GeForce FX 5200 better.

Yes, I know what I am doing.

I have a fesh clean install of XP (including service pack 1) with restore points and I backed up the entire registry.

The ATI is great, but I am also an Unreal Tournament fan (original version), and that video glitch with ATI is bothersome.

I am going to do some BRYCE and BLENDER 3D rendering and see what happens.
