I just got a dell and it came preinstalled with service pack 2. i'm assuming the windows that was installed on this was integrated with sp2. is there a way i can remove it without messing anything up.

not really...unless the optioin is in add\remove programs.
if not then you will need to download windows xp corp with sp1...
why do you want rid of sp2?
Go to add/remove programs under the control panel, click the box at the top that says 'show updates'. Scroll down and see if it's there.
I'm with Rossco on this though, why would you want to remove it??

If it was from a slipstreamed installation you can't remove SP2.
Since Dell won't install service packs to pc's which are ready for sale you can guarantee that will be the case here.
