i need to get some stuff off another hard drive...
but it has an OS on it (win ME...yuk!) :p
my first thought was just to plug it into one of my ide cables and get what i needed
but i dont now and never have messed with dual boot shit
i could just plug my monitor/keyboard/mouse/cd burner to that pc, but...
thats a lot of work damnit
and this pc has NO nic card, just a 56k modem
so i cant just plug a patch cable in and transfer the stuff

i guess my main question is...
is hookin up that drive to my pc gonna give me hell?
(with the dual boot and all)
i got a world of options i suppose, but just wanted to hear some thoughts about it
I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile.
I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave.
I will work to elevate you just enough to bring you down.

Nah, piece of cake. Make sure your main drive is set to Master and the other to Slave on the jumpers. And set the Master at the end of the cable.

When it boots up, go to the bios options. Make sure you main drive starts up first.

I guess my main question is: are you going to leave the old drive in or do you just want to drag some data off it and then ditch it?
    If the latter....

Open up your tower and unplug the IDE cable from your optical drive(s).
Plug the old HDD to the end (master) of this cable and boot the system.
Pull your data and then power off.
Reconnect the optical drive and you're done.
This method has the advantage of bypassing any jumper settings or BIOS changes.
