It just makes more sense to release a new version...
People new to Winamp (or that aren't using 5.06) don't want to have to download the the installer and then a patch. that's just annoying.

Yes I thought it had died.
Try Foobar its a great music player good sound, great playlists, lot sof add-ins but not many skins.

yes but there was a critical flaw in Winamp 5.06 and earlier and that is fixed now.Wasn't Winamp just updated a week or 2 ago?
