Copying a DVD to a DVD-R or DVD+R is far too complicated to list instructions in this forum. There are many ways to do this, each one with its own drawbacks. Check out www.dvdrhelp.com like Synthetic suggested.

Do you wan't to copy a DVD or convert downloaded avi files ?

Copy a dvd us very simple. Download DVDxCOPY from dvdxcopy or do a search on kazaa and copy a DVD5 on 1 dvd or a DVD9 on 2 dvd's (with menu and extra's). Or you can use smartripper to rip the DVD on your harddrive and use dvd2one to extract only the movie (in the new version dvd2one 1.1.1 you can also copy the enire dvd).

for converting a downloaded avi file you can convert it with tmpeg to a mpg file and then you can use the mpeg file for your dvd. (I always use Ulead Moviefactory v2.0. This program converts your avi and burn it to your dvd writer).

for more information you can read everything on DVDR help

Remember, a DVD±R can only hold 4.7GB while a double layered DVD movie can hold more than 9GB.
