    Surprised/Amazed

I just upgraded from the old, ball mouse, to an optical mouse, but which should I plug it in to? On the box it says 2x Fast Optical (Using USB). Should I use the PS/2 adapter to plug it into the PS/2 port? Or would it be overall better to use the USB port?

    Use the USB port...
in the ps/2 you need it hooked up when the computer starts.
With USB you can go without a mouse then after a while plug it in..
little things like that make USB so much better

plus USB is just new tech. why attach an adaptor to use the old technology.

USB is supposedly slightly less responsive

i have my mouse plugged into PS/2 because there's nothing else to plug into there, it really pisses me off having a socket i'd never use

I have a logitect optical connected to the USB of one of my old pc and start up i get a ps/2 error message that there is missing device and asks me to press esc to continue. After that my pc recognizes the mouse and the mouse still works perfect. I'd recommend USB because some times i'd have problems with the mouse connected to the ps/2 , for example the mouse icon freezes and i have to unplug and plug back in the ps/2 port.

If your mouse connects via PS/2 use PS/2. If it connects via USB use USB. Theres no point in using an adapter to convert. Just use the kind they give you.
    blah blah blah... whatever...

I just use the ps/2 port. That is what it is there for. Free up a USB port for something else that can make more use of it. Like a digi cam..
