Thread: newsgroups updates

    do the incremental updates normally take so long?
    im trying to update the alt.binaries.dvdr and its gonna take a couple of hours
    yeah.

    yes, it usually takes quite awhile to update the lists. especially for a big one like dvdr.

    Grabit is kinda slow in updating large newsgroups.
    Newsleecher however does this much faster.

    You should give it a try.

    no need to download headers.

    use the latest version of grabit it has a search function

    would that be 1.5.0 beta? it was the newest one i could find. i dunno what version i have been using.

    i think we need a good refresher about newgroups for everyone.

    thanks man, it took me a minute or two to find the official grabit website. this search thing is gunna rawk.

    been using 1.5.1 mainly for the nzb import function, but it seems laggy and pretty slow. ive tried newsbin and newsleecher - one of which i didnt like, and the other i couldnt find a working *ahem* way to buy

    does anyone have any other suggestions for binary clients? id like:
    • small and lightweight
    • allow 2-3 connections (to one server) though it would be good to allow me to connect to >1 server a time
    • allow nzb import
    • thats about it!

    ok thanks, ill try newsleecher and the search function as well, just don't know what im lookin for yet lol, im new to newsgroups since torrentbits is down and i wanted to see what ng has to offer

    If it's newsleecher you're talking about,it's been posted in alt.binaries.warez.ibm-pc.0-day.(Newsleecher_V2_00_beta_9_RC2_with_Keygen)

    It's been posted there about 6 days ago.
    So if you got a good retention,you might want to check it out
