on dc++ I have seen alot of users called kad-349849842 the number can vary and when they download something off me if I leave the hub or have no hubs open they can still download and even when I just start up dc++ and no do anything suddenely they connect and they always seem to be in the same hub (Kademlia)

KAD is the network being created by the emule team, didn't know you could use dc++ for it

anyhow the reason they keep connecting is, like most p2p networks, emule works off of a direct connection protocal. the only thing nodes/servers are need for are searches. downloads are done directly between users, which is the entire meaning of the phrase peer-2-peer. basicly you still on their 'active source list', and since you still have your p2p app open they can still connect, as nodes/servers aren't needed for downloads

i personally disconnect from most networks after i've found a few good sources, to remove the uneeded overhead, as i'm on a 56k
