    Hello all...

As im sure most of you own at least 1 region 1 DVD so I have a question for all you people who are 10X smarter at PC stuff than I am.

With my DVD drive (and im sure with yours if your running XP with SP2) your allowed to change the region of the drive 5 times I think. Is there anyway to give you more as I find myself often having to swap for audio ripping measure etc etc but I cant as i can only change the region 2 more times. So I would like to beat the system, stick it to the man or generally get round Microsofts evil!!!

    Any ideas?

    All help is greatly appreciated!

(I did try searching first but no luck so I do apologize if this topic has arisen before)

    of course its possible!

    http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php

go there and search your make/model of dvd player. there may be a firmware upgrade for it which allows you to make it completely region free, or if not, you can use the software which is on the main page.

note that the region doesnt have anything to do with your OS........

its saved in the DVD player itself (hence the firmware)....... reinstalling windows, or another OS wont do you any good......

Yeah, there was an guide on there that explained things like that.

At the mo the link to my DVD ROM thats on the site is down so i'll have to wait a while anyway, either that or download something from BT that they listed on the site.

While im here, I take it there are programs that can remove the copyright protection on DVD's so they can be copied?

    oh yeah, hehe
go to that link that Viv supplied
look on the right side menu for the dangerous brothers
    go there
if they have your fw get it from there
ive personally flashed all my drives with their fws
and helped a friend with his dvdrw
hopefully they'll have an RPC1 patch, but even an auto reset will do
(RPC1 will remove region for good, auto reset will just reset the counter at boot)
