How can i find out what they are?

I've just been downsizing my 'My Pictures' folder and in each folder is one hidden object. I just wanted to check what they were and why they are hidden before i send the empty folders to the recycle bin.

    its a thumbs.db file

The thumbs.db file is generated by the Windows. It is a database file containing the small images displayed when you view a folder in "thumbnail" view (as opposed to tile, icon, list, or detail view). No harm is done by deleting thumbs.db files. There is no need to include them in your system backups. Whether you see these files or not is a function of your File Options settings.

    to disable this:

    1. Click the Start button
    2. Select Control Panel
    3. Select Folder Options
    4. Click the View tab
    5. Check "Do not cache thumbnails"
    6. Click the OK button

    to view hidden files...

open any folder>tools>folder options>view>click "show hidden files and folders">you can, if you want, also remoe the check beside "hide protected operating system files".

I'm sure youre smart enough to not delete them.

I can delete them if I've deleted everything in that folder though can't I?

no those are just stuff like the recycle bin showing on your c drive, and other hidden folders on your drive.

    Thanks Ike,

I always wondered what those dammed .tb files were.

I use a shareware program called Thumbs Plus, and I thought it might have been to do with that. But obviousy its not.

    Thanks
