my "specs" when I bought the Computer stated 160 so... you think If there was anything I needed to do the manufactorers would have already done since the HDD came with the Computer

edit: wow okay, I never read that far... thats pretty gay though.. oh well 143 is plenty large for me I think

I know what an ATA-PCI adaptor card is.
Can you explain how that would increase the size of his hard drive?
    Till then, phew.

crazy fool, it might be worth checking your disk management. there's the infamous 137gb barrier.

start > control panel > performance and maintenance > admin tools > computer management

    storage > disk management

see if there's any unpartitioned space and try to format it if you can. worked for me when i purchased a 200gb hdd a few months back.

    Hes seeing 143 though

Its just how these damn hds work. On my 160, im only getting 149. On my 200, im getting 186. Its cause windows doesnt measure them the same as the manufacturer.

EDIT: Hmm... I was messing around with the calculator and I notice that on mine, I get 93% of what they are supposed to be.

yeah, if you work it out with their gig and our gig it works out that the gig is 93% of ours, so you should always get about 93% of the advertised size
