It doesn't matter what the specs say.The drive was said to be 160 gb by the manufacturer of the drive. When windows formats a drive it formats it with 1024 kb per mb and 1024 mb per gb. The manufacturer counts 1000 kb as a mb and 1000 mb as one gb. Also,is your PC a Dell,Compaq,IBM etc? If it is then there is likely a hidden partition holding your software that came on the PC.

Its just how these damn hds work. On my 160, im only getting 149. On my 200, im getting 186. Its cause windows doesnt measure them the same as the manufacturer.

EDIT: Hmm... I was messing around with the calculator and I notice that on mine, I get 93% of what they are supposed to be.

    My 200GB = 186.31GB
    My 160GB = 152.66GB

Damn them! Damn them all to hellllllll!

I was told mine would be 8 inches, but it is only 19cm. Damn conversion factors.

    Oops, sorry, wrong forum.

    19cm?

Maybe that turns out just to be 15cm, like the HDD companies count it.
