I'm currently on Blueyonder Broadband 4MB,

Yet when downloading from within programs such as MSN Messenger, the little "notice" comes on saying why it is a slow transfer...... Router. It can't be my firewall because ive tryed disabling them, but no difference.

Note: it's not just in MSN, from software such as FTP, Streamloader etc!

Im using a Belkin Router, any help much appreciated.

The message from MSN that you see is on all of them. It's just a notice. I get it and my speeds are fine.

Have you tried running a speed test?

    Yep np with speed tests

Is usually from within programs. Such as FTP's, P2P - even though they are fast without the router.

Maybe something to do with the "ports"?

no it's a built in announcement, kinda like an ad. just ignore it. i could be uploading at 1000 MB/Sec and it'll still show that so you click on the link to see what 'they have to offer'

in MSN you will get slow speeds if you don't forward the right ports.
    Probably for other programs too.

Am I the only one thinking along Samrai's line?
The guy said that messenger puts up a notice saying the transfer is slow... but the message doesn't actually say that; the message points out that "if you're experiencing slow transfer speeds" blah-blah-blah, which doesn't mean the transfer is slow at all.
