My house has a wireless network set up using a D link router.
There are 4 computers linked to the router to connect to the internet which is a 2MB broadband connection.
The computers arent allowed to connect to each other (ie. no file sharing)
We are getting no where near the speeds we should be and the ping rate is very very slow.
Two computers are running sp2 the others sp1.

Any ideas why we are losing speed?

Yea, you should turn the others off too.

What are you doing when you notice the slow speed? Max you can transfer on the internet it 250 kB/s. And its slow if you are uploading.

Are you able to get full speeds using the PC to which the modem is initially connect to?

yes when we connect the computer directly to the modem there is no slow ping but when the router is added to the link thats when the ping drops significantly. We're doing ping tests when simple web pages are open, no p2p, no games etc

Do a speed test with the router hooked up.

How far away are all of the PC's to each other. Some find it hard to go through concrete walls etc, so you'll get some loss there.
