its shouldnt make much difference to the speed of your adsl.
are you talking about how the modem connects?
if so i would go with an external modem with ethernet,
allows for use with router etc, with more pc.s
or for space saving get a pci adsl modem.

I am referring to the speed of the connection. Ethernet ADSL modems are limited to around 1 Mbps upstream and 8 Mbps downstream. I have heard that PCI ADSL modems dominate over this. Is this right?

Edit I am in no need for a router or anything like that, beacuse a have a single PC.

oh rite, em not to sure bout that,
try some manufacturers sites, but thats all down to individual manufacturers i think.
    as ethernet is 100/100Mbs.
so i guess its theoretically possible to get an adsl modem up to they speed.
but not to sure bout that one.
just had a look at speedtouch website, and all there modems are limited to 8Mbs up and 832kbs down.
so maybe a limit to adsl?

    check out http://www.ertyu.org/~steven_nikkel/netspeeds.html
right at the bottom of the page.
the up and downstream rates for adsl.
so i think its gonn be down to your personal pref.
pci will save desk spave though.
unless your short on pci slots.
in my order i would go for.
    pci/ethernet
    then usb.

it realy makes no diffrence wich u use thu i would not get USB it will go just as fast as any thing else but USB has problems and is not too reliable

my prefrence would be ethernet as u can hook it too a hub and use it with more then 1 comp at a time

ethernet is usually a bit faster and more stable as usb

and with ethernet you can always add a router for easy internet sharing

I agree with ethernet, also if you are using Win'98 (not SE) and try to install a usb adsl/cable modem, you are in for a whole new world of pain !!!!

adsl is nice.... im using that right now... of course there are others that are faster...
