ya, RDA wanted to leave ever since season 4, but didn't (dont ask why i read this in some interview), he basically used the whole SG-1 thing as a boost or a stepping stone if you will to give his acting career a boost. frankly i didnt like atlantis, it was good (hell it was a billion times better than enterprise [new]) but sg-1 has that good old fashioned feel to it
