Doesn't the added wear primarily have to do with the core voltage?
That's my impression of things anyway. Running a processor with an overclock but with stock or lower voltage shouldn't screw with the lifespan, at least not much.

Read my guide on Overclocking it explains the dangers and risks about overclocking.
quite right. about the same year that a box of saltine crackers bought 5 years ago will finally become inedible.Originally Posted by rossco_2004
The lige of the cpu will most likely shorten if you raise the voltage some more and if the temperature is high. I'd highly reccommend another site other than tigerdirect.com.
I'd recommend a thermal take heatsink like
Heatsink ( $33.99) – Thermaltake Venus 12 CPU Cooler For AMD Opteron and Athlon 64, RETAIL
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...106-038&depa=0
And i would make sure that the 12V rail of the power supply is good , i'd recommend it at 12V@22A if you are planning on overclocking that high....
Yeah...a lot of times you can get the 2500XP to a 3200XP with the same voltage...i just raised mine a tad.
[SIZE=1]AMD 4200 X2 @ 2.65Ghz, ASRock 939-VSTA
1.75GB PC3200, 2 X 160GB Seagate w/ 8MB Buffer
HIS Radeon X800 Pro, Antec Super Lanboy Aluminum
The mobile version is even better, [email protected].Originally Posted by bigdawgfoxx
