Photoshop CS to cut the head out and ImageReady to make the animation and used a Quagmire plug-in.

A piece of his head in its leftmost position shows up as the head reaches its rightmost position, cant you see it?

Also, something happens with the shell as the head shifts.

I'll look at it, did a reboot to check if it was something os related that made it turn out like that so now I got all the tools available anyway..

EDit: it'll have to be later, gotta' do some other stuff now, damn.
