Azureus....used to use bittornado but it started to piss me off one day, changed to az and used it ever since.

  6. BitTorrent   -   #6
Bitcomet, its fast, small memory footprint, lots of features, and hasn't been banned at my private trackers, Azureus 2.2.0.0 has been banned due to hacked versions showing up that will report anything to the tracker you want, and 2.2.0.2 is still accepted but has been having lots of problems updating properly to trackers, as in people are not getting properly credited with all that they upload... Biggest difference, Bitcomet written in C++ and azureus written in Java(bloated)

I use Azureus because it connects really fast, within secondes I'm downloading @ +100kb/s. Bittornado took minutes before I got the same speed.

Azureus is being a bitch atm here (2 much memory.)

How's the 'connection time' with bitcomit ?

10 Seconds to connect to tracker, another 10 to connect and get 180kb/s. Azureus = Memory Issues, Written in java (thats asking for trouble), poor inbuilt tracker, used with the famous stats hacks.

Why is eXeem on the list?

Sure, it's a program that uses the BitTorrent protocol, but it's not a BitTorrent client.

Found out it was jre-1_5_0_01 that was using so much memory, I just installed j2re-1_4_2_07 and now it seems to be fine.

    Using Azureus again

I use bittornado. I was going to use Azerous but I downloaded it, and it started freezing up. Then I looked real quick to make the port selection random between 10000-60000 and I couldnt find that option.

That's why I like bittornado I has that feature to choose a random port.

Why you ask? I use my college's connection and if I have lots of activity going on in certain ports like the 6800-6900 or whichever the old default bittorrent ports were, they'd find out and use whatever IT program they use to identify the packets and shut off my ethernet port in my room....

    So yeah, I like bittornado.
I miss the days of random nut '03
Click for more activation options, then activate by telephone. Run the keygen.
if I call them, aren't they going to get me? (you know, down there)

    ABC.

I find that Azureus needs too much cpu power. If you are running something like Folding@Home they compete for resources too much.

No adwware, no spyware. BitComet rocks all the way. It's written in C++, as mentioned by others before, and uses much less memory than all other BT clients i used b4, (i never used azureus though).

Also support a lot of languages, including chinese, actually, it's probably written by a chinese guy.
And it gives you a lot of good torrent sites, most of which unfurtunately have been closed or are very slow due to excesive use.

That's great, to use azureus you should downgrade your java client so your system will work smooth, next maybe I should go back to windows 3.1, just get bitcomet and problem solved...

Almost any java application is naturally processor intensive.

It's not downgrading. the 1.4.2.7 was released just before or just after the 1.5.0.1 update

    No need to do that.

Simply install the new client, but set it to use a different range of ports and set the max upload rate for each client in proportion to the number of torrents on each one. As you remove torrents from the old client you can adjust the upload rate to match.

    that's an interesting observation,
since exeem uses a trackerless proto, could it also handle the regular protocol?
