Thread: Need help fast... Xp logs off when logging on

  1. #1
My brother just called me and told me that whenever he starts his computer and logs on, to logs him off after the backround loads. He has had XP on the system for over a year so its not an activation problem. No new software/hardware changes. Cant think of what else it could be.

Need a cheap/easy way of modding your xbox? Check this out.

    1. Boot using your winxp cd.
    2. Enter recovery console.
    3. at the command prompt go to
    C:/windows/system32

    4. next type:
    copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe

    5. Exit and boot to desktop

    6. Run regedit

    7. Go to key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\

    8. Change:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsaupdater.exe

    to:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\userinit.exe

    9. Exit regedit and delete C:\WINDOWS\System32\wsaupdater.exe

whoa - chewie what exactly does that do?

I was gonna suggest - boot into safemode, open taskmanager, kill any weird processes and then run a virus scan & spyware scan and remove any weird programs from startup.

I would go with 15% first and then if need be try chewie
If you can you may want to try a "System Restore"

I've seen it on two computers where Adaware Pro v6.81 was installed and removed a malware infection in it's usual way - by fucking up and not changing the Winlogon key back after deleting the infected file.

I found the solution on the net a long time ago and copied the instructions to a file on my puter.

I had the same problem and I post it the Shareaza FORUM.
If your brother has executed a program that never appears after the installation then he better start installing a fresh windows again cuase the registry was mested. I still have that nasty program here to see how they do it.

If there are some smart guys or girls here who might trying this distroyer to see if they can catch up everything back to normal then I will be glad to upload it.
