If only the fsb was off that's easy enough to set in bios. The Mobo you have should let you set both fsb and multiplier (if it's unlocked) manually.

I asked you where you live in case someone knew of a place or site based nearby with good deals. I don't since I'm a continent away.

Anyhow, any of my suggestions should work on your board I think
The mobile chips don't work properly in the Asus board. Can't remember the exact details but a few people have had that problem.

I would follow VB's suggestion if you can find one, but be careful with the OCing, some of them get a bit hotter than others. I'm managing to get 2250MHz (about equivalent to an XP3300) on an XP2500, but not with stock cooling. I know some people can get faster than that with stock cooling, others don't seem to be able to get anything like as fast no matter what they try.

Why did the price go up so much on the 2500?

And yeah, me and matt tried to use a mobile on your board (Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe), and it wouldnt work. So just get the regular 2500XP, and you should be very happy.

    Something about supply and demand.

If at all possible always get the "retail" chip.

Retail gets a three year warrantee as opposed to the one year for OEM.

The retail heatsinks make attractive Christmas presents too.

Did anyone else pick up the fact that the OEM version here is supposedly 1.5V/55W?

Can't be the mobile chip, the FSB is wrong. IF it is right it should run cooler than the other chip.
