Thread: Chat in LAN

  1. #1
I was wondering if there is any way to chat in LAN in XP without using any external Software. I know how to do it with Netsend command but there must be an easier way to do it.

What could be easier than net send?

If you've got static IP addresses you could always just rig up a batch file to shorten the command

i'm sure he wants a gui of some type.
it's possible that you could do it via winchat, but I dunno...I don't have a lan here to play on right now
(Start > Run Winchat > File > Dial... > Select machine)

wow i never knew there was a winchat command/program.
but anyway i tried it and it says the other computer didnt respond so i guess you need the program to already be open on the other computer?
in that case u might as welll use aim, msn messenger, or netmeeting or something.

The way i do the "netsend" is to go to command promt and type a netsend and IP before even typing my msg. I dont know how you call that easy.
Can you explain the batch file process.
