media player classic, which is what i use for everything except music, suddenly freezes and crashes (not responding) when go to file->open. Also, WMP won't even open. VideoLan takes forever to browse through directories and files. The only player that works flawlessly is winamp, but i dont like using it for movies. Any idea what the hell is going on?

Perhaps remove all codecs, reboot and then reinstall...

I would agree, except the problem is not the playing of the videos, but just using the program. WMP doesnt even open and media player classic as well as video lan don't know what type of file i want to play.

still...they could be corrupting the program.

try spyware and virus scans as well though.

You should always quote your OS and system specs.

Eg I am on Windows ME and my Foobar music player used to crash 75% of the times I started it up and would not play a song. Then the next time it would !

I have finally tracked it down to the fact that ME has very limited internal system resources and If I diasable my AVG anti-virus program it always seems to work !
