Does it matter which brand I use with my 2Wire wilreless router? 802.11b is what my 2wire router supports. I could buy a $10 802.11b and it'd work?

It doesn't matter what brand you use as long as it adheres to the same standard.

Each standard transmits on a different frequency and at different speeds.

Current standards are; 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g. Just choose one that matches your wireless adapters' specs. Most new WAPs(wireless access points) are 802.11g but are backward compatible with 80211.b.

802.11a is used mostly in commercial environments and is not very common any more.

They newest standard will be 802.11n but I don't believe that's even available yet.
