Is it OK to install Macromedias player ?

I surf the net a bit and keep getting asked to install Macromedia's flash player.

I have a 56k dial up connection.

Are there any advantages / disadvantages for me to do this ?

I used to think that it would save time for sites to load by not having it.

yes, install it or else something on certain websites wont show up that need it.

just install it it's small and removes the annoying thing that popsup asking for it.
And it's needed to display content on some websites.

Flash is necessary it in order to view animations which are commonly used on a lot of websites.

be careful they now include the yahoo toolbar with the flashplayer. you can choose not to install it so read what you click before you install it.
