1.make sure the background intellegince transfer service, automatic updates, event logger, and cryptographic services are all running in services.msc.

    2. make sure the windows date and time are set to the right things.

    3. i've had problems with windows update when "automatically detect proxy settings" is disabled...click tools>internet options>connections>'lan settings'>and make sure that automatically discover proxy settings is unticked.

the proxy thing might be a problem. i've had this issue before, i highly recommend u clear ur cache every week or so. rite now, i use maxthon, and i just set it to clear every time i exit. if u don't use a special browser, u can go to internet options, advanced, and there's a checkbox in there to clear cache on exit
