    i think you plug it into your PCI slot so you can have a couple extra IDE sockets, ie. double the hard drive-age

    Yeah and if you don't know what it is and what it does then you don't need it.

    errrrr is it worth getting 1 coz it seems to increase your hdrive's performance

    Increase it above what?

    If your motherboard is anything like new it can probably perform equally as fast. If your mobo isn't new then it is likely that your HDD can't operate at the higher speeds so you wouldn't see any improvement anyway.

    It is simply an extra ATA adapter, which would be in addition to the ones built in to your motherboard. Unless you actually need extra ports, leave it alone.

    thanks for the info mate. i want to run 3 h drives so i guess i might need it3

    depends, how many cd drives do you have?

    also, if its just for one HDD, why not make that one an external HDD? its cheaper, more flexible, and puts less strain on your PSU........
