Do you absolutely need a laptop?
They are far more fragile than people think ( especially the power ports) and unless portability is a real issue, not a very good investment.
Everything in a laptop is 2 to 3 times more expensive than a PC.

the grant is specific for a laptop, so its either that or nufink....
Right then.
If forced at gunpoint to pick a laptop (and that's what it would take) I'd prolly choose a Toshiba.

Alienware
Ripoff. But they do look kool, i'll give them that.Originally Posted by Shiranai_Baka
i've been warned off alienware desktops before, are the laptops better? why toshiba?, seem to have great screens, but are they value for money? hmm whats about dell? my friend sez they are the most reliable, and he eats out of bins so should know.
That's weird clocker. I always thought Toshiba products were pos until recently. I saw one of my new bosses with one. I was suprised. But the guy travels all over & is very astute so that gives me pause.
When I used to work in the tech/fiber optics biz 90% + people visiting execs, techs etc. all had Dells. Then I'd see the odd IBM thinkpad.
So I'd look at Dells & Toshiba if it twas I.
I'd personally get a Toshiba one too. Sony aren't bad either, but they cost a little more.
As mentioned above, Alienware is just a ripoff. You could get one with the same specs for half the price. Avoid.
Dell XPS Gaming laptops are really sweet.
