    Hey Guys,

I used to have problems with my fan in my mobo but I ended up breaking it while trying to take out the old fan. Anywho....

After I hook everything back up to my new mobo will it boot right back to Windows or will I have to install WinXP or configure something? I don't want to lose any data.

Sometimes if it's the same chipset (or same board model) it will boot up fine, but in most cases you should do a repair install or format and reinstlal windows.

i always get told that but i changed XP hdd from a duron to a p4 and after about 3 restarts it was fine. the restarts were while it re-installs all the hardware and that.

check the lba settings in bios before formatting

Its the same model mobo, nothing else will change. Reinstalling Windows won't cause me to lose anything will it?
