Scottish Caveman Ian McLeod:

In 1980, Ian MacLeod quit his job as an art director in the movie business, and started work on a stone house in a rocky valley in the northern Transvaal of South Africa. Over the years, Ian hand-built his home on a rocky outcropping overlooking the valley. Because the valley was part of a nudist nature preserve, Ian worked in the buff, wrestling rocks from the land to his building site. His bed was a huge stone slab, and there are over 1000 rocks in the building.

Magazine articles were written about this energetic, powerfully built man constructing a home where all materials had to be hauled in by hand (no roads), and several articles referred to him as Caveman MacLeod. Ian, his home, and lifestyle will be chronicled in detail in Homework, but in the interim here are some photos and some excerpts from magazine articles and Ian’s letters about this unique shelter.
