    ok
    i come home
my girlfriend tells me she just saw on cnn that the pope has died
as a catholic this seriously sadens me
    i turn on tv
    it turns out
the pope has had his last rights, he is dieing...

    as if this is new
    why does the press hype?
it is sick to abuse such a situation
yes he is a landmark, part of history, the most powerfull figure in catholic democracy
we know he is sick, he cant feed himself, he is older than old but out of all the political institutions it adds to see a persons entire life instead of the best 4 years.
i dont know what im saying but it angers me to see the press jump to conclusions like that and i know the world (+colonies) are saddened :crying:

Regarding Christian religion, what is the purpose of the Pope?

    What's a Catholic democracy.
I plan on beating him to death with his kids. I'll use them as a bludgeon on his face. -

--Good for them if they survive.

    Ah right, cheers.

From what I read the Italian paparazzi made an error and pronounced him dead when all that had happened was that his breathing went rather shallow. Sensationalism at it's best.

    I agree with Zed.

    This is unforgivable.

Bloody Hell, it's not an American Presidential election we're talking about here.

We shant get a mea culpa from the press, you know.

I'm sure the fact of it will not faze certain of us, but think about it for just a second-this is what our media has become, and, at least for now, it is all we have.

Think of it in terms of "intelligence" for public consumption.
"Researchers have already cast much darkness on the subject, and if they continue their investigations, we shall soon know nothing at all about it."

I'm not sure exactly what the point of this thread is.

Is it because a mistake was made and the reports of the popes demise were exaggerated or is it about something else.

I don't follow Vatican politics being an atheist and all and other than a few questions that puzzle me when it comes to the lengths taken to "stop God taking him" I really have no interest in the man.

However I wish him peace in the inevitable and hope he feels no pain.

it’s an election with no Democrats, in one of the whitest states in the union, where rich candidates pay $35 for your votes. Or, as Republicans call it, their vision for the future.

The point of this thread can be found in the title. (mainly press flame)

    Summary:
The pope is dieing, he wants no hospital, he has recieved his last rights, recieving your last rights is the last statement...
He is regarded as the closest thing to god
    That is all

It is now 2005, the pope's of the olden days where the most powerfull persons in the world, today "he" is still dominant over "moral" issues. Apart from Kings, Popes hold their position until death - which is a very non "modern" attitude - and in the eyes of the non religious 205ers can be seen as a reality tv, but to those that "believe" it is not a media hype joke.

    next?
