I'm a schoolkid in my last year of secondary school - going to study Computer Science at Uni this autumn.

I work for a TV station. ABC/WDAY
I thought time zones were for the entire world...I guess not.
Well, the world is split along the longitude lines into 24 peices. (Like an Orange)
Each section is 1 hour later then the previous. So, if it's 4:30 PM in North Dakota, it is only 2:30 PM in California
There is a line that you can cross over the ocean where it will monday 1 second, and sunday the next.

/me works as a consultant (programming,databases etc)
Anyways, timezones doesn't follow the longitude lines exactly (due to country borders etc) but it's a rough guide anyways. If you are 'really' interested in how it really looks, heade over to http://www.worldtimezone.com and have a looksie ^_^
