yep Ares seems like the best, still kinda lame. Wish i had a source that archives mp3s longer then 2 months.

Newsgroups is no good, only a 24 day retation. IRC mabey, but still hard to get what you want.

Ares is good if you want more mainstream music. It's hard to find more indie stuff on there.

Slsk is the way to go mate! If you got a lot to share, people will most likely add you to their friends list which gives you privileges to be the first one to download. So no queues here

ps. it helps alot if you have a high upload rate
