    Define "serious for gaming", please.

Here in the States, a semi-serious gaming rig will start in the neighborhood of $1500.

You will have to decide if SLI is a technology that you want to invest in.
No matter what, you will want to be on a socket939 platform with a 90n chip ( the Venice cores look like the performance bargains right now), with the attendent baggage this will require.

    Error! Error!
    Danger, Will Robinson!
You have a PCI-e board and an AGP card.

    I like the Gigabyte GA-K8n-Ultra 939 motherboard.
The CPU of your choice (3000 or 3200 Venice?).
XFX makes nice vid cards, but others have their faves, too.

Whatever you do, get a decent power supply.
Antec NeoPower, OCZ Modstream or (go for broke!) PCP&C.
