Thread: Mp3 Ripper

  1. #1
    Hello people!

Ive been using Musicmatch to rip my CDs for quite a while without any problems until recently. Lately the ripping speed of a cd has been x0.3 whereas before it used to be about 8.0, this means it takes me about 1/2 hour to rip a CD to MP3! Ive tried reinstalling but to no avail.

So Im on a quest to find a new ripper, any suggestions?

I would like it to use the same codec as Musicmatch (Frauhofer or however you speel it).

    Thanks.

    Thanks for all your responses.

Benno, I tried that guide ages ago but with no luck. Everytime I rip a CD with Exact Audio Copy its so slow and tells me it will take 38hours to do! I followed the instructions exactly, what am I doing wrong?

Also, EAC rips everything to WAV and not to MP3?!?!

EAC rips to WAV, as they all do. In most others, however, the compression process is transparant, so you
never see the .wav output. Anyway, EAC will, if you follow the directions in the article that Benno linked,
compress the traks automatically with the lame.exe after ripping each track.
The end result is very good, but if you burn a VBR mp3 file to a CD, some players may not be able to read
them correctly, and it will sound like it's skipping.
