hey did any1 had a automatic update from Windows Update last night.
in morning i woke up with a Green Update [not Yellow] icon on taskbar saying that a recent update had been installed and ur computer had BEEN restarted. WU downloads the updates but never install them nor reboots without permission
f*cking all my downloads were closed.

It was an update to the msi installer thingie.

And it required a reboot for everyone who got it.

    I suppose it went deep.

EDit: Windows Installer 3.1 was what was updated, more specifically.

    I got it too.

    Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1
The Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 is the application installation and configuration service for Windows. The additional features in version 3.1 help make creating, distributing, and managing updates to applications easier and more efficient.
    How to Uninstall
This software update can be removed via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.

There's a 3.1v2 of that on the site, though. Was it that we got yesterday? 'cos I think we should have had 3.1 for a while now.

Must be. I pulled the info above from my WU history... noticed while I was in there the installer had been updated to 3.1 back in April.

TO avoid this, You shouldn't have it set to install automatically, but only download updates automatically, then you can choose when to install it when it's convenient.
