Peer Guardian certainly would help. So would not downloading movies off Kazaa, since every letter I've seen pertains to downloaded movies.

things are quiet until hitler decides he'd like to invade russia
    so, he does
the russians are like "OMG WTF D00DZ, STOP TKING"
and the germans are still like "omg ph34r n00bz"
the russians fall back, all the way to moscow
and then they all begin h4xing, which brings on the russian winter
the germans are like "wtf, h4x"

A regular firewall is basically a hacking deterrent. Peerguardian will block snitches like media force or you can use privacy on to stop people from being able to see your file list. Someone may think you're a leech but it's better than losing your isp.

I'd like to suggest you use a good SOCKS5 proxy to hide your IP address from the MPAA. Also, if someone is watching your internet account, you could use filetopia ( It uses strong encryption to stop eavesdroppers from reading your file transfers. Just make sure to switch the encryption algorithm from 128 bit Rijndael to 448 Bit Blowfish or 256 Bit Twofish.

I received the same letter from ComCast. I have never gotten anything like that before. Got to tell you I am really freaked out here. I am afraid to download or to share my files.
If anything like this happened to others I would love to hear how you handled it. And what the outcome was.
