I dont know why, but when i set a style for Style XP it goes away when i restart. For example, if i choose a default (panther) it goes to panther, but when i restart it goes back to this skin that i dont even know what is.

I can set any style, but it just goes back.

    Any suggestions?

you are trying to change your theme ?
you should try using "Neowin UXTheme Multi-Patcher v4.0" with that you can change your theme without any software.

On the Style XP options, make sure that 'Reapply theme at startup' is checked.

That option should not have to be set in order for the windows theming service to function as it should.

Something else, not StyleXP, is the root cause. Switching to the freeware UXtheme.dll patch is not necessarily going to correct anything. This has to do primarily with the settings XP is saving during logoff. Or a bad .theme file pointing to a directory that does not exsist in C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes .

    Reapply Theme at Startup
This option, when checked, will apply the current theme again when the computer boots up. This is necessary on some computer systems because the theme is not applied by default, or is applied improperly at startup. If your theme or icons are not correct, you may want to check this option.

Which is why you want to check the current .theme file in use in C:\WINDOWS .

Reapplying the theme only circumvents the problem (and in this case, not too well). It fails to solve it.
