hi thanks to this site i recently downloaded grabit and am downloading off my
isp's newsgroup but instead of having a constant download speed it spikes every minute. Can some one plz give me some insight into whats going on.

can be different things.
check your pc for spy/add-ware. do you also download other stuff @ the same time?
do you also have this when you download a large file with for example IE or firefox?
what ISP do you have? maybe your ISP server is shit

i shall check for spyware now and i shall check firefox and no i am not downloading anything else, thankyou for fast reply and im using eclipse internet, shall i try another newsgroup?

There should not be any difference in downloading from different groups. it possible if you download older files (8 days or older) that some servers become slower/spikes.

well im trying to download gta san andreas so that shouldnt be too old, and when i update the lists they go fine

i have done everything you said but still it is spiking can anyone offer me any help, ok it is fixed now but getting extremely slow speeds, oh well at least i have constant downloads
