I've downloaded Star Wars Episode IV, but I cant watch. So I used GSpot to see what Codec it is using.

    Thats what Gspot said:

Can anybody help me with this?

    Thanks

It looks like an avi. The movie could be corrupted!

If you have done a full install of the K-Lite codec pack you will have 3ivX installed, configure is to playback DivX3 files.

    i.e.

    Start > K-lite Codec Pack > Config > 3ivX

On the 'Direct Show Priority' tab ensure the slider is set to at least "prefered" and check the box marked:

"ensure compatibility decoders for the following DivX variants" - "DivX 3"

Click apply and ok and retry your film

WMP cant open it either. Any Ideas whats the cause of this?

How about in BSplayer preferences; on the Video tab:

Clicking on the "Use DivX 4 for MP43, DIV3, DIV4" box and trying that??

I tried that but BSPlayer still gives me the error "Unknown File Format ( Div3)"
So do I need an additional codec? Or what am I missing?

Sorry Benno I'm out of ideas with this..

I've started to download Harry Potter 2 and seem to have created this very error for myself now!

The files play fine in AVI Preview but no other player on my system will play them (same Div3 error)

I'm only on 56k dialup so it will take a while to see if it's only a "file not complete" error.

    AArrrgh!!!!!!

Well looks as though we may be in the same boat !

Well while writing this I realised I did have a DIvX3 Low motion Film it was Zombie Flesh Eaters.
I tried it in gspot and it returned this:

See if you can juggle your codec settings a bit as i only have K-lite codec pack codecs installed on my system

I just looked and I do have other movies that are in divx low motion too. :">
    They play without a problem.

I tried to play it with AviPreview and it actually works.

So thanks for your help gatty76 I'll have look through my codecs settings maybe I can manage it that it will run wih BSPlayer as well.
