sid meiers pirates, game stuck at same spot, won't play??

This actually seems like it may be a good game, it just won't seem to work on my machine -1100 mhz, 512 ram, radeon 7000. After installing this game and running it, the game hangs up at the same point, after the opening story line when you start a new game, just after you initially input your name. I am posting here to see if maybe someone else had the same problem and knows how to fix it. Any help appreciated... thanks!

Just play the original version from the late 80's. I've played both and the only real difference is the fancy graphics.

Otherwise, update your graphics drivers and make sure your Directx is up to date. Might want to check if that gfx card is actually compatiuable with the game as well.

This is Cheese as well, I retired the Withcheese account at 10k posts but the pesky mods keep deleting my old posts so I come back here as Withcheese to get it back up.

Yeah that card doesn't support DX9 and Pixal Shader 1.4 and 2.0 which is most likley the reason why you cannot play the game.

Solution: Buy a new computer as that one is seriously weak.
