    My computer gets this message on start up and i don't know how to get rid of it. (I messed around with my boot screen)

    Please select he operating system to start:

    Line)
    Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

    Use the p and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice

    Press ENTER to choose.





    For troubleshooting and advance start options for windows, press F8

    Did you install XP and chose not to upgrade.

    If so you may have a dual boot system.

    You installed xp and left ur old OS still in ur computer

    Same thing happened to me except the message just appears for a short while like 4 sec but it still asks me to choose.

    I know exactly what you are talking about i chaged the boot screen with bootxp and i have the same prob as you so can somebody post the solution.

    It is okay waiting like 4 sec just kind of annoying in a way.

    start> control panel> system> advanced tab>start up & recovery settings>time to display list of operating systems, uncheck the box

    You have two Operating Systems on your pc. Even if they both say XP you can still have it twice. If it was me I would back up all the files I wanted to keep and then format and reload.

    You can have the option of choosing operating systems even if you only have one installed. I have XP Home and had to uncheck the "time to display List of operating system" box to skip this step at boot up.
